I went to storeage & pulled out Elijah's walker. A friend of min is going to borrow it for her granddaughter. I put it down in the kitchen & told Elijah ... "Elijah, look this was your walker.. you used to sit in her & walk around before you were able to walk ...." He was so funny... I sat it down... turned my back & Jenn started laughing... When I turned back around this is what I saw...."OUR VERY OWN BABY HUGHIE!!!!"

Friday - I can't take one more thing......

Thursday night I found out we only had 1/2 day on Friday of school. Then I also found out Adrian had practice right after school & the mom that normally takes him is gone. Kevin was flying out early Friday, Jenn had practice & was going to her dad's. So I had planned on taking off to run Adrian to practice & then run him back out to work with me after till it was time to go... Awwwwe.... got it all figured out with only a tad bit of stress so I thought. Well, Friday morning I woke up mentally prepared for the weekend... It had been a crazy-busy week & the weekend was to be awe so worse.... Softball tournaments, babyshower, wedding shower, invitation making, work, pickle asparagus, tamale making for Senior class. I could accomplish all this ... I new I could just needed a schedule & had to stick to it... Well Friday morning Jenn decides not to go to her dad's cuz she also had alot going on & needed to get ready.. I was so glad she could grab Adrian after practice, pick up Elijah & maybe clean up the house a little as
Heather was coming over to help with HER graduation announcements . WELL, WHAT WAS I THINKING... I found out her sole purpose in staying home was so she could go to the baseball game in Royal City.... That was the straw that broke me.... Do you ever wander how something so simple can send you into a parenting meltdown?... Well it did... I lost it..... I was so upset,
here I was busting my self at the seams to make sure I made it to all of her activities, make sure
all her needs are met & she throws one more thing at me.... I went into a major meltdown... no temper fit... just cried....cried....cried.... I didn't think I ever would stop. When I finally calmed myself I explained to her my schedule was full.. I couldn't take on another thing & that I was sorry but she needed to go to her dad's and maybe he had could take on the rest of her schedule.
What a day...... Well to make it shorter than it could be... She did pick up Adrian & Elijah, which I totally appreciated it , however she also went to her dad's who didn't allow her to go to the game & Heather came over & we had invitations done by 9:00 p.m. Oh Heather thank you so much!!!! I look back at it now & it probably wasn't that big of a deal but at the time it was just enough.

Kevin...........

The words I use to describe Kevin..... Loving, kind, gentle, non-selfish, huge helper
Kevin is flying out to Arizona today. He is flying down to take his cousin to her senior prom. Now I know that doesn't sound real special but there is a story about it. His cousin Caityln didnot have enough oxygen during her birth so she is to me condsiderd "Heaven's very special child".. She is handicapped but not severley. You can tell by her face, her hands are extremely small and as her feet & she is slower. Caitlyn has never been to any of her dances but her parents called and asked if it be possible for Kevin to fly down & escort her to her Senior Prom. Kevin was elated.... Caitlyn holds a special part in everyone's life.. She is so kind, loving, patient.
His grandparents took him to Tri-Cities & purchased him a suit... Caitlyn's mom Tami found a shirt to match Caityln's dress... I'm so excited but sad cuz I can't be there... She is to take lots of pics & you can bet next week there will be a blog on the dance...
As for Kevin, we were sitting down visiting... I was reminding him of all the things a mom should and he looked at me and said "Mom, don't worry this will be the best night of her life".

And you know.. It will be.. He will be sure that she will dance, laugh, & enjoy this night :)

STRESS.... What is that????

Today, I will admit, I was feeling a tad stressed & pressured.... Okay that was an understatement... I was feeling lots of stress....This week is going to be a very busy one, both at work & at home. Yesterday, I get a call from Adrian's Little League Coach. He is to have practice after school at Coulee Park. Well, that probably doesn't seem like to big of a deal but the problem being, Adrian is only 8 and Coulee Park is clear across town from the school.... Oh yes, I did I forget to mention I work till 5:00 and Jenn & Kevin are both in activities afterschool too...... AGHHH!!!!!!! Well for today, Kevin said he could be a tad late for golf, he'd grab Adrian & drop him off at the park & then the plan was that I would get off a tad early so I could go visit with the coach & see if there was a parent I could either take turns or pursade into helping me. Well, the other problem about me is I'm terrible about asking for help. I will move heaven & earth to be able to do something without help.... Well 3:20 I get a call.. Keving can't find Adrian.. Did he get on the bus??? Did he try to walk by himself???? Panic sets in.... I start clearing my desk.... and the phone rings... His class was late getting out, which now means Kevin is late for golf. Kevin runs him to the park & no coach.... Being the responsible kid, he won't leave him... He runs back to the school to pick up the kids that ride to golf with him & then back to the park.... Well no coach... Finally coach shows up & now Kevin is lots late for golf.... This is not looking good... I've already got it in my head...It's not going to work... So at 4:00 I can't take it...I need to get this figured out... I go to practice...sit in my car & start scoping parents... This is so sad... My older kids I knew everyone... I see two kids that I know... One is the coaches kid & the other Adrian had played soccer with (his mom is a stay home mom ,hmmmmm) but she's not there..... Well she pulls up & I set my sights on her..... I slowly move out of my vehicle & move across towards hers....i look like a cat setting her sights on her prey... I feel so stupid I'm saying Hi to people I don't even know..... I finally get there... and we start to visit... She actually brought up the fact that I work & how am I going to be able to do this.... Well, it didn't take but a few seconds to jump on that... She agreed to get Adrian to practice afterschool, this week. I volunteered to take her son home from practices.... so it all worked out... Painless.. It will add 14 more miles to my trip after work & leave Elijah at daycare apx another 1/2 hour or so.... but it might work..... THANK YOU KRISTI........

Projects.........

This next week is going to be a crazy one... Saturday alone, I have Softball Saturday - All day Royal City Tournament. My brother's wife baby shower, a good friend of mines wedding shower. Oh & did I mention I'm helping with the baby shower... So the plan is drop off food, & game prizes with my sister in law. Go to tournament for awhile... Run back to baby shower & I'm going to have to pass on the other shower. But today was project day. I needed to make part of her baby gift & I made one of the prizes for the games. Jenn is also a senior & instead of buying graduation announcements like everyone else, she wanted me to make them.. I also made several examples so she could pick, which one. So on Friday night when I should be getting stuff together for baby shower, Heather is coming over to help put together graduation announcements. :) I've attached the photos of the projects.. They turned out quite well. I made what I call lunch pails. The one with the bear will be filled with small lotion, shampoo, powder & etc...I will tie balloons on it & it will be a center piece, she can then use it in the babies room. I decorated it the colors of the room & put bears on it because that was her therm. The one that says greeting cards is for a prize for one of the games. I made cards for each month, so you could write down the birthdays in that month & store your cards so you can grab & mail... I also enclosed a few homemade cards ( I hope they like it).... and then Jenn's announcement. I thought it turned out well... So besides cleaning the house, doing laundry & cooking you now know how I spent my Sunday....

Softball Saturday......

For the next few weeks, Saturdays are for softball. This means you still have to get up early, fix breakfast, pack cooler, chairs, blankets, jackets, umbrellas, handwarmers, hats, gloves, & sunscreen. You never know what the weather is doing. This Saturday Warden played Ki-Be, they lost the 1st one 7-6, shouldn't have (1 bad inning) and came back strong & won 8-1.Jenn had an awesome 2 games, great defense & had some good hits... There is no place I would rather be than watching her play & seeing the passion that she has for this sport.

THANKFUL THURSDAY.......

As I was driving to work via daycare, I started thinking of Thankful Thursday. Every night when I say my prayers, I always thank the Lord for what he has given me and how grateful that I am for what I have. As I was making mental notes on what to write today, I told Elijah.. Today is Thankful Thursday what are you thankful for & he responded "HUH"??? So I explained to him:
I'm thankful for the Lord & what he has given us I'm thankful for my family - I have the greatest kids, mom, brothers I'm thankful for my friends - Without them I would have a really big shrink bill I'm thankful for our health – I’m thankful for my job & the people I work with - Not many can say there co-workers are their best friends. So as I'm explaining to Elijah what I'm thankful for he pipes up and says,
I'm thankful for Jesus - He let those men put him on the cross & put nails in his hands for us I'm thankful for food–We got to have a breakfast atMcDonald’s today I’m thankful for family- Uncle Dave made me dinner huh mom I'm thankful for friends - Tyler said I did it but I didn't I'm thankful for trees - They are nice to us..... He made me laugh... he was getting the just of it even at 4

RECIPE - WEDNESDAY : CHICKEN MARENGO

When I was a teenager, my parents decided I needed to learn how to cook. Back then I wasn't very happy about it but today I'm so greatful. I love that I know how to cook, I consider myself to be a good cook & I really enjoy it. The only bad part is I also enjoy eating it *lol*. My dad was normally home by 4:30 in the afternoon & my mom worked till 5:00 so got home between 5:30 & 6:00. Dad normally had dinner started. He was a meat, fried potatos, green salad type man. When Mom got home she would take over. Well, I can remember besides, cookies one of the 1st things I learned to cook was Chicken Marengo. My dad was the best Chicken cutter upper around.. He could get pieces that I never heard of. When I cut it, we were lucky to tell it was a chicken *lol*.... I also remember the 1st time I had to mix all the ingredients & instead of using a spoon, he had me squish it with my hands... He laughed so hard at me. The way it squished thru my fingers was disgusting and the look on my face was priceless..... Well here's the recipe as I remember... Feel free to tweek it to your likings..... I hope you all enjoy it...

CHICKEN MARENGO – DAD’S RECIPE

(1) WASHINGTON GROWN FRYING CHICKEN
(1) LG CAN OF WHOLE TOMATOES
(1) ENVELOPE OF LIPTON ONION SOUP MIX
(1) CN OF MUSHROOMS ( I USE FRESH SLICED NOW)

SEASON THE CHICKEN TO YOUR TASTE, I PREFER LAWRY’S & GARLIC PEPPER. PUT OIL INTO A SKILLET & FRY / BROWN THE PIECES ON BOTH SIDES. IN A MIXING BOWL,USE YOUR HANDS & SQUISH TOMATOES, LIPTON ONION SOUP & MUSHROOMS ALL TOGETHER. AFTER CHICKEN HAS BROWNED ON BOTH SIDES, DRAIN EXCESS OIL OFF & POUR MIXTURE OVER THE TOP & SIMMER. SIMMER TILL CHICKEN APPEARS TO BE DONE. THIS IS SO GOOD POURED OVER A BOWL OF RICE.

This is a pretty basic recipe…. It's delicious & has lots of good memories go with it for me.

Softball on Saturday

Jenn lives for softball & has been that way since she was old enough to play. She started in T-ball. When she turned 8 she was old enough to play softball but Warden didn't have a league than so she actually played baseball with the boys. She had to try out & was actually picked & got to play. Finally they got a girls fastpitch team & she switched. She has always been a very agressive ball player. She loves to take risks & loves to get in the dirt. Warden had a tournament in Mattawa this weekend. They did very good there 1st 2 games they won them both by 10 running them & that put them in the championship game. They played Chelan, who actually just came down to 1a league. I will say the 1st two schools we played were not at our level and the pitchers were not very fast. Now for Chelan, that's a different story. The 1st inning their pitcher struck out our 1st three batters. One being Jenn. I'm not bragging (maybe just a little), but Jenn doesn't strike out very often. Well by the time Warden started hitting off of them, they were up by about 4. We ended up losing, taken 2nd in the tournament. Not bad but showed we definately have room for improvement in our batting..... Jenn loves to slide head first. I hate it.. I asked her why & she says #1- it's the fastest, #2 it's harder to tag you out, #3 it's a great adrenalin rush. Now being mom I came up with lots of reason's why she shouldn't - the best because she's going to get hurt. Well sure enough, she walked to 1st & stole to 2nd, it was close so she thru herself down & slid head first, well the dirt had softened up she sunk down & somehow caught her helmet. The facemask caught her on the bridge of her nose & on her left eye as it was flying thru the air. BUT SHE WAS SAFE!!!!! The next girl was put out on 1st & that was the 3rd out. Jenn couldn't go back in cuz she had slightly blurred vision but ended up being ok. Warden lost, ended up 2nd in the tournament. Even though they lost, they were able to see what areas they need to work ok before playing the tougher teams in the league.

My Favorite Quote Site - Home and Holiday

I want to share my favorite quote site. I use this site frequently for quotes in my scrapbook pages. I actually stumbled upon it looking for some sports quotes. It's an LDS site, has great craft ideas, family home evening ideas, geneaology, and under the heading Aspiring to Greatness - you will find quotes for every thing imaginable.

The Big Science Project......................

A few weeks ago Adrian had do a science project for the science fair. He had gotten a book on paper airplanes for Christmas. This book is so awesome - it has lots of different planes to make,
tells the differences in the body styles & tells how to throw it & the different tricks you can do.
So Adrian and I took a trip to Craft Warehouse ( my favorite store) and he picked out several
different papers to match the styles of planes he was going to make. I looked for cloud paper to use as a background but we couldn't find any. So we improvised ( my favorite word). I had him paint the board a sky blue & he used a sponge for the clouds. I must admit I was a little nervous but I needed to remember he was only 8. Adrian is a very creative boy. He can take a diet coke box & the next thing you know we have a car, boat, plane or a cat house. After he got the background done he began folding. I took pictures of all the steps of his project & we put them on the board too. I was so proud of him.. He did such a good job & I knew he would present it well. Well, he came home from school & said everyone liked it .. Thought it was sooooo COOL!!!
He was to present it the next day to the judges. I couldn't wait to find out how he did... When he got home the first thing I did was asked him how he did. He shrugged his shoulders & said "Oh, I didn't get to present it & I asked him why?? Well, he hadn't included on the board a list of his supplies..... I was so upset.. I was more upset than he.... I pulled out the sheet and sure enough we were supposed to include a list. I felt so bad he had not proceeded because I overlooked that detail. We went to the fair that evening & he had gotten a participation ribbon & was so excited. It all ended well but I still have a heavy heart knowing he may of proceeded a little further. That is just one of those moments that gets filed into the "Another Great Mom Moment"......

THE THRILL OF VICTORY.........

Elijah was so adement to get his training wheels off, he decided to ask the neighbor lady to take them off because we obviously didn't have it high enough on the priority list. So he has been working dilegently trying to learn to ride. As I sat & watched Jenn with him, he made me think back of his first steps & what a triumph it was when he started walking. The excitement we felt must compare to the excitement he felt as he made his way across the yard without falling..... Milestones & Memories.....

Recipe Wednesday.... I luv it

I know I've been lax at posting & daily Heather has reminded me.... I apologize. I came down with the crud and have had absolutely no ambition. It has taken all I have to get up, go to work, come home & take care of things there.. But I'm back on the mend & promise to do better. I love that I dubbed Wednesday - Recipe Day - I didn't have to think just look for a recipe. This recipe is a favorite salad of my kids & mine. It almost could be a dessert. It's one I can throw together at the last minute, when my kids forget to tell me we have a banquet & it's a potluck or it's always a favorite during the holidays. I hope you enjoy it. I call it the Pineapple Cream Cheese Salad (how original huh)....

PINEAPPLE CREAM CHEESE SALAD

8ish oz. of Crushed & Drained Pineapple
8 oz Cream Cheese
8 oz Cool Whip
½ Cup Sugar
Mix well
Better when refrigerated for an hour or so before serving

1 Cupish Crushed Pretzels
½ Cup Melted Butter
1/3 Cup Sugar

Crush Pretzels & pour melted butter & sugar mixture over top & mix. Spread mixture
in flat pan & put in oven on 400 degrees for about 5 –8 mins. Do not burn. This puts a carmelized coating on the pretzels.
Take out of oven, put in container to cool. Stir them frequently to
keep pretzels from hardening all together.

Sprinkle pretzels over salad before serving.

Spring Cleaning ......

Today & tomorrow is free dump day in Warden. You each get to take 1 pickup load to the dump for free. What a deal, not to many things are free in this day & age. Well, I took today off so we could do that. We started last night & hopefully will finish by tonight. I'm sitting here looking at my kitchen and it is so piled with stuff that is going to the dump.... Why do we keep all that stuff? Why do we allow all that clutter? Well I will say once it is on that truck and in that dump, I know I will feel that much better.
