I'm not sure I'm ready for Football!!!

Well Saturday was Adrian's first grid kid football. And the story I'm about to tell is not to offend anyone who coaches any type sport it just to vent a little frustration.

After 3 -4 weeks of practice, after practice every night last week. We finally had our first game. Adrian was so excited. He popped out of bed & couldn't wait to get that uniform on. The game was in Mattawa so we headed out about 9:00 from Moses Lake to be there by 10:30. Once we
arrived he goes straight for his team & they began warming up as the 3rd/4th grade team finishes up. It was so fun to sit and watch those little kids running around in those big o uniforms. The 3rd and 4th graders won!!! Yeah for them!!
So the 5th and 6th graders take the field. Now you need to understand, I'm not a parent that gets ticked if my kid doesn't play all the time or even start for that matter,I totally understand they can only play with so many on the field, I totally understand that this is his first year & I totally understand that he has some issues BUT that being said... I also understand that this is 5th and 6th GRID KID FOOTBALL - we aren't playing for a State High School Championship, I also understand he has been at every practice except one in the past month, I also understand that he is a kid & thinks he is one of the best players on the team & can't wait to get to on that field. That being said, Warden took the field.
Adrian didn't ... No biggie, ... Defense in.. Defense out.. Adrian walks the sideline beside his coach .. just waitin for that chance... Defense in.. Defense out.. Adrian kneeling down beside his coach, while waitin to be put in... Defense in .. Defense out... heavy sigh from a 10 yr old that you could pretty much hear in the stands...Finally 3/4 into the first half .. Adrian runs in... you could see him perk up instantly. They run the play.. Defense in ... Defense out.. Adrian comes out...hmmmm.... First 1/2 over & never went back in.

Now being a mom, and a protective mom, I'm getting a little ticked but honestly the whole time I'm trying to prepare a speech about why he wasn't put in and how he needs to keep his chin up, this was his first year, they have lots of 6th graders on this team & etc..... Second half - Team takes the field and Adrian's out.... Ok.. this is getting ridiculous. Parent's are asking me why he's not in? He's walking around deflated.. totally deflated... my heart is breaking... Come on.. this is 5th and 6th grade football.. How am I going to get him to go to the next practice & why would he want to? Finally 5 mins into the 2nd half he gets to go in... Thank you!!! He actually played quite a bit in the 2nd half.. no explaination was going to be necessary .. no questioning the coach was going to be needed, and no tears would be shed.
But can I ask what would it of hurt to throw a kid in for a play.. take em' out... throw em' in a tad later and take em' out.. At that age, they don't understand, they just want to play...
They did win & he was totally excited.... So it was a good day, just a little frustrating...

Soccer Anyone!!

Tonight Elijah had a soccer game against Ephrata. Boy oh boy.. That child couldn't decide whether he was playing basketball (he was jumping around with his arms in the air while guarding the other team, football ( he got called several times for tripping, grabbing) or soccer ( he scored 3 goals).. One thing about watching Elijah play it's always entertaining *lol*

He had quite the fan club there that night. Kevin & his friend, my mom, and the boys' great grandparents.
Great Grandma & Grandpa Chandler
Kevin & Amanda

It was a good game, we won.. The team is now 1 and 2 and if you ask the boys what the score was, they will all give you a different number :)

What I learned this week at Grid Kid Football!!!

Did you know that the hiker guy in a football game is called a "Center"?

Did you know that the guy that is supposed to catch the ball is called a "Receiver"?

Now even I knew that the guy throwing the ball was the "Quarterback"?

But didn't know that guys on the defensive line were called linemen ...silly me I thought they were linebackers..

Come to find out a linebacker is the guy on defense back off the line... GO FIGURE!!!!

Oh and most importat of all Adrian is a full back not a blocker guy *lol*

It has been a week of learning for me :)

And what do you do at 4:30 in the morning....

Oh how I wish that Adrian's body would sleep in on the weekends, but that is one thing that makes him so unique :)

At 4:30 a.m. I get him up and give him his medicine so by 5:30 a.m. he is getting ready for school, breakfast & homework. If you could just train that little body to sleep in but at 4:15 a.m. this morning, he woke up and asked if he could have a snack *lol*.. I had ordered pizza last night & he loves leftover pizza for breakfast. So low and behold he got some pizza, a juice, meds, went back to his room & is still watching cartoons.. Now you would think that at my age, my body would go back to sleep but oh no.... I tossed and turned ...tossed and turned and finally got up and this is what I've done :

1) Diet Coke - Nothing starts your day like a cold Diet Coke

2) Peanut Butter Sandwich- I love Peanut Butter on Bread - It sticks to your ribs & yes my hips but I love it - comfort food

3) Facebook - I hate to admit but I'm a total Facebook Addict - So much fun keeping in touch with friends and family

4)Blogger - Yep, checkin in with my bloggin friends

Now I can hear Adrian digging in his millions of legos looking for that one special piece & Elijah is sound asleep and I guarentee, we will be lucky if he is up by 9:00 or later.. And I... well, I should / could get up and be productive but I think I will go try and lay back down..

What do you do at 4:30 a.m. ???

(Blogger won't let me add pictures :(

Conversation of the Week

Elijah - "Mom , what's for dinner?"

Me- "Chicken, Elijah."

Elijah in his super tired, whiney voice - "Mom, why do we always have to eat something that comes out of a barn?"

I'm still laughing

Wordless Wednesday - Brotherly Love

PRICELESS!!!

So today, I go to pick up Adrian for shots and once again he's not in the office.. So I trudge over to his class & his teacher says "I sent him into another class for bursting out ". Can you imagine what his face looked like when I walked into this class and he was sitting there filling out a paper on what he did wrong... BUSTED!!!! and it was PRICELESS!!!

Now the flip side, Can you imagine my face when Adrian walks out with a TROMBONE in his hand and explains to me that he signed up for band & has been going every morning before school.... PRICELESS!!!! (Do they not need parent permission anymore???)

Kids!!!

Driving down the road, I'm trying to get out of the boys how school was. Asking all the appropriate questions.. What kind of day did you have... What was the best part... What was the worst part... Do you like your teachers.... You know & of course I'm getting all the important details "NOT!!!".. Adrian's favorite answer of the day "I DON"T KNOW"... I was getting rather frustrated & asked him "what is the matter, you need to talk to me".. he than stated "Mom, I just don't feel like I should have to share my personal details with you." AGHHH!!!! Where do they get this stuff..

Random Post ....

I realized today it has almost been a week again since I've posted. So today is a random post... and random or babbling it is..

Work has been absolutely crazy.. I love my job but the last few weeks have not only been hectic but very emotional and very stressful. We've had some changes happening and I'm afraid we aren't thru. Yes, change is good but sometimes it can be stressful at the same time..

The kids started school. Elijah is in the 2nd grade and has the same teacher from last year. Mrs. McCollough (they call it looping ) I absolutely love her and so does he. Not to many changes for him. However, Adrian is now in the 5th grade and has several teachers. I get so frustrated becasue of the fact he has a 504 plan due to his ADHD. Now, you would think that it would be important for the teachers to know ahead of time what to expect but oh no.... Let's wait till 4 or 5 weeks into it and then we will discuss it.. NO THANKS!!! I've contacted his teachers and have a meeting set up for Thursday so we can all be on the same page & I'm so greatful they both felt it was urgent for us all to get together.. THank you Mrs. McPartland & Mrs. Olson. This past week was a tough one, not so much the getting them up part but the figuring out school schedules, sports & homework.

Sports- Elijah is in soccer & Adrian football. Can you believe they practice football from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. with those little guys. I can honestly say if I would have known that , chances are we wouldn't have gotten to play... Enough said...

Car- I was able to get my car fixed 2 weeks ago & Saturday night, Kevin wanted to borrow it & headed out of town when all of a sudden the temp went sky high... Oh great!! When it rains it poors... So tomorrow , we will limp into work & hope that T.W. can figure it out or it's back to Tricities.. I go!!

Eric hit a cow the other night with the service truck .. He wasn't hurt, as for the new service truck... welll......

Dr. Warner is retireing!!!! I can't believe it.. I'm actually devastated. I am worried about
finding a doctor for the boys, that understands the ADHD, that will not treat me like I'm an
idiot when handling it, and that won't have me committed on the days I don't think I can take anymore. I actually got on line to see how far Bend, Oregon was to see if I could make the commute... Hmmm, maybe relocation for me is an option *lol*

I finished Susan's Circle Journal "My Favorite Movie".. I don't know why I beat myself up about doing them. Nine times out of 10 when I'm finished.. I love them.. Sandy, thanks again for putting it together.. I cannot wait to see them all completed..

I know this wasn't a happy, go lucky post but pretty much summed up last week.. So onto tomorrow..
