VIKING SOFTBALL 2008

I've sat thru wind, rain, 105 degree temps but can honestly say this was a first.

They finally called the game in the 3rd inning.. They couldn't hang on to the ball to pitch, catch or throw...

SCRAPBOOK TIP!!!

While we were away at the ocean scrapping our little hearts out.. I asked my good friend W.S. Donna how she organizes her scraps of paper & if it helps her to use them. You see I have a rubbermaid tub with legal sized file folders that are full of scraps... Solid scraps, patterened scraps & I never use them... So she told me that she puts them in the 2 1/2 gallon bags, puts them by color, by pattern color, or by holiday, season, etc. Then she has them stored in a plastic container that is easily accessible. She also said do not keep a scrap unless it's big enough to put a picture on.. Well last week, I thought I'd try it. It ain't gonna hurt anything. THAT WAS ONE OF THE BEST TIPS I'VE EVER GOTTEN. I used more scraps last Saturday on projects than I have used in a year!!! Not only was it assessible but when I was done with a project, I immediately put the scraps a way!!! Thanks Donna!!!!

Comfort Food - Thanks Jane!!

Well both Jane & Heather have put the pressure on by wanting a list of comfort foods....

So here goes...

WW Chocolate Cake - This can take all the stress out of a single day & a Diet Coke
Pizza
Chips
Chicken - My mom makes the best fried chicken
I love butter popcorn & milkduds.. handful of popcorn & 1 milk dud... LUV IT!!!
Tree Cafe - General Tsao's Chicken & fried rice
Cheese Cake- I usually like New York with nothing on it but let me tell you there is a place in The Dalles, Oregon that has the most fabulous Dulce de Leche right Heather & Annette :)
I also love absolutely love spinach artichoke dip - Michaels on the Lake has the best!!

Wow this is harder than I thought *lol* As you can tell pretty much anything that I don't have to make :) To be honest if I'm looking for comfort this is where I would head. and really bad when I want it 2 days in a row *lol*

What Do You Do at 2:00 a.m. If You Can't Sleep??

As I was tossing and turning at 2:00 a.m. this morning. I was thinking of all the things I could get done. You see... I am a morning person. I"m not sure why.. but I can get so much done between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m than I will ever get done between the hours of 7:oo p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

So, I popped out of bed and this is what I've done:

Washed & folded 2 loads of laundry

Made 2 loaves of Banana Bread

Rotated the dishes out & in the dishwasher

Swept the floor

Ironed my clothes for work

And most importantly..... Blogged about really nothing at all *lol*

Well... hope everyone has a great day....

P.S. I even made a birthday card, finished 1 Scrapbook page & started 2 others ... Yeah.. now that was the best part of the morning...

Horton Hears a Who......

Nick & I took the boys to go see "Horton Hears a Who". It's a must see.. Not only did the boys get a good chuckle so did Nick & I... It's so nice to watch a movie and not have to think, not have to worry about language or scenes. One of my favorite parts was when Horton is trying so hard
to get the Who's to a nice secure spot. He being the big elephant that he is ... has to cross a bridge. Not just any bridge, a wooden slatted bridge that hangs from side to side with rope.
Of course once he starts across all the slats began to fall.. So being the smart elephant he is, he sucks in air & holds it in.. thinking that it would make him lighter... As I'm shoving in popcorn & milk duds in my mouth, it sends up a reminder of how I will feel on Monday when I jump on that scale. I think to myself.. I will suck in & hold my breath & I'm sure I will be lbs. lighter *lol*.

It's a must see movie if you have little ones. Adrian liked it so much, he asked if we could buy it when it comes out on dvd...

CHICK DAY!!!!

Most of you probably know that Chick Day at Basin Feed is right around the corner but for me Chick Day was Saturday... I will have to admit my chick day and their chick day are extremely different but both bring much joy.

Saturday , I spent spread out in my scrapbook room aka kitchen scrappin away... I had warned Nick that Saturday was my day & not to expect much if he was to come down. He assured it would be late afternoon.. no worries.. Well, when he walked thru the door at noon, much to his demise I was scrappin'... I just looked at him & said... I told you "CHICK DAY"... He laughed and said no problem.. well that was right before I told him that there was 6hrs of "Danielle Steele" movies on *lol*... Now Chick day also means I get control of the remote cuz the scrap table aka kitchen table is directly across the room from the t.v.. hmm one might think I planned that *lol*.
We visited for a few than he began searching for the remote... I just laughed and once again said "CHICK DAY"... unless you want to watch 6 hrs of Danielle Steele with me.. you might want to go in to Woody's room & turn on that t.v. We both laughed... Eventually he made his way in there. I have to admit I only felt guilty about 10 mins or so when I went in there & this 5'10 man is sitting on the edge of a bed trying to watch sports on a 13 inch tv... Oh Well.. Everyone deserves a "CHICK DAY"...

I'm back... I think....

Wow.... I'm not sure where I should even begin... I can't believe I haven't been on for 10 days. There are several reasons why I haven't blogged lately.

#1 - Spring is here!!! - Which means work, work, work... So bloggin must be done at home

#2- DON'T & I REPEAT DON'T ignore errors that keep flashing on your computer - Eventually your computer will crash & you take a huge chance of losing everything on your hard drive.. You figure out what I was more upset about 3 months of all the paperwork for work I had saved (I have all the hard copies ) or 3 months of pictures - basketball, senior night, last bb banquet, scrappin at the beach.. - Along the same line... when you sit & stew about backing up your computer.. you really should take the time to do it :)

Weight loss -

I'm glad to say that last week I was down 1and 1/2 lbs. I'm almost back down to the 8#'s lost. I'm hoping by Monday I will be back at that point. I tell you by battling back & forth, I realize that I'm really going to have to stay true when I reach my goal or it will be so easy to put it back on.

ADHD- Adrian

We've switched medicines... This is very unsettling for me. It's only been 2 days but my heart hurts for this little boy. He had reached the max. dose of Adderall XR he could have so the specialist in Tri-cities has but him on 10 mg of Rittolain & 25 mg of Concerta.... I was so afraid he would be a zombie especially due to the fact of the Rittolain. Well, it's amazing... He has been so polite. Yes please, thank-you, I love you, and even does things just to help, and it's now 7:51 and I haven't heard you are stupid, numbnuts or any of his favorite sayings all night. Last night, even got scolded.. was sent to his room.. he started to throw a fit, I scolded like normal & 5 mins later he apologized... yep he apologized.. no screaming...no thrashing... Totally amazing...

There was one scare... His tongue is driving him nuts... It is continually itching... yep that's what he says... and he is drooling like crazy... he goes to talk and the drool runs... well I put in the 911 call to the specialists, I was worried he was reacting to the switch of meds.. Well, she has never heard of anything like this.. I need to call his doctor and talk with him about allergies... OH Crap...Allergies... Yep it's March and this is the time of year his allergies kick in and we have to throw Claratin into the mix.... Now you are probably wandering why I didn't remember ...well, normally his eyes water, itch, & noses runs but have never had the tongue itch or the drool.
So we start Claratin in the a.m. & hopefully in a few days things will be better for him

Elijah- Elijah is getting more green cards than red or yellow in class & boy that is huge. He started soccer practice this past week which has thrown a wrench in things too.. Practice is right after school. So I've hired Annette's daughter Kristen to walk with him & Adrian to the soccer field & then I have to ISH it about 4:15 or so, so that I can have them picked up by 4:30.

Kevin- Has started golf. That dampers everything... I've lost my helper... Wow..not sure how I'm going to handle all these changes next year. I've started venturing out more with the boys. Survived an evening Walmart run... Don't laugh.. that is a huge accomplishment for me. Ask Heather :)

Jenn- Had a rough 1st qtr at Big Bend but I can say I'm so proud of her. She has stuck it out, held her head up high, and hopefully will be swinging a bat & catching a few balls in about 2 weeks. In the meantime.. she's my favorite little bench warmer :) I didn't realized how much I missed watching her play.

Eric is working lots of hours for his dad, trying to take on-line classes at Big Bend. He stops by once a week or so & I'm happy when it works out that dinner is done & on the table. I love it when he sits & has dinner with us. He's turned into such a great young man...

Now - if you've read Heather's blog for the day .. .I need you to realize a few things...

#1 - I'm okay... not going to do anything stupid to myself or anyone else ( not saying I hadn't thought about it in the past week)

#2 - Every day this week I actually promised myself that I wasn't going to have a confrontation with anyone in our corporate office or other offices . Well, I've managed to break that every day this week."

#3 - I may have been heard saying more than once this week -

"How stupid can a cooperate policy be" - If you hadn't received a paycheck, would you want to wait a month for a replacement......

What is going on with them????? Do they not know it's SPRING??????

If my boss asks me to jump, I'm going to ask him how high no matter how busy I am... her corporate reply - "He IS YOUR BOSS???"

I think my boss will probably run if he sees me coming his way tomorrow... It has been a full moon this week... with lots of bantering back & forth... & I seem to be the bearer this week..

And as for the chinese cook.... Oh PLEASE!!!!!

Here are a few of her favorite lines -

You place your order - She argues that you want her special... we say No.. we would like almond chicken... Nope she replys you have special... No we would like almond chicken... she says ok I give you special & guess what you get the special not almond chicken

Napkin? You need napkin... my daughter gave you 2 napkin...see (as she points to Heather).. you..(pointing) took bot napkin... you can't hab 2 napkin... and you took bot fork..my daughter gib you 2 fork & you took bot... I than ask - can I please have another napkin- She points again... you got 2 napkin she took it...

When you go to pay with a credit card (everytime) -

You bring schek... We reply - no check just credit card.... Next time you bring scheck... We don't have a check....AAAWWWWW OK.. you bring scheck next time k...

So in my defense and out of respect for her... I had all the bantering back & forth I could handle for the week. I wanted comfort food, I wanted my own fork & napkin & yep we paid with a credit card. I just knew I would chew her up if she started with me.... Now you may ask "Why, do you go there.".... She has the absolute best Chinese Food I have ever eaten.. I actually can get 3 meals out of mine & it costs about $8.00. So on most days I can put up with the rest ...just not today :)

Well, I hope everyone is doing good.. I actually haven't even been lurking much.. It's a busy time of year at work and at home..

Janey Payney - Bless you and your family. My prayers & thoughts were with you during your time of sadness. Keep Bob's memories alive.. It will bring such comfort.

Tracy- I absolutely love your cards... You are so darn talented... Keep up the good work as far as going to the gym, walking & etc. You are doing a great job!!

Janice- I'm so glad to see you are back. I've missed seeing what all the kids are up to. I too agree that blogging has so much to do with the emotions you are feeling...

Cynthia - I'm so jealous - 14 days in the Orient... I hope you have a great time.. Can't wait to see the blog & the scrap pages.

Susan - I don't know how you do it... Keeping up with all the kids, making sure they all are fed, all the goodies.... You are awesome...

And Last but not least HEATHER- THANK YOU!!!!! Thank you for listening, thank you for sacraficing your diet so I could vent, thank you for covering so I could ISH it & boy did I ISH it today... and thank you for not closing the window - you are a true co-worker & friend!!!

Well, I will try & do a better job & yep.. if you have any holy water and or prayers - or personally know the happy fairy - send her my way *lol*

The Scale Sang Taps This Morning *lol*

Well, I jumped on the scale this morning... and it started chiming "TAPS" to me *lol*...
I've tried to figure out where I went wrong... I spent 4 days at a family/friend scrapbooking adventure. Was able to go to the beach and scrap store anytime I wanted it was only a few miles away... Ate only the finest homecooked meals - Chicken Noodles, Clam Chowder, Taco Salad, Hawaiian Hay Stacks, Costco Muffins, Waffles, Crepes... oh and dessert...only had a FEW 100 Calorie Pack Snacks... Hmmmm.. I'm just not sure ... or maybe come to think of it ...
Maybe it was this.......
Or This......

Or this....

Well I guess the bottom line is I better not do that again.... I was up 3 not only was I up I have to pay an additonal $5 for gaining more than 2 ..... I should be mad at myself but actually I'm so thankful it was only 3 *lol*... We had a great time & I guess you should know I will be spending my time this week.. detoxicing my body *lol*...

Oh well... I know next week will be better.... Tonight I will post some pics of our time off that was well spent....
