Wilbur Ellis - Homecoming Food Drive......

It's that time of year again.. Friday Night Lights and Food Drive....

Thanks Heather for your helping me keep my sanity!!!

Thanks Sunspice - They donated  12 cases  of Augritin Potaotes ........

The Wilbur Ellis trailer lined with 4 boxes - One designated for each class - Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior -  Kevin and Amanda volunteer to help us - Heather & I collect food from the cars that are coming into the game & Kevin and Amanda put it in the box that is requested... At 1/2 time we weigh if necessary the individual boxes and call back to the game & it's announced which class has won the competition.

This is the kick off for our food drive that runs thru November/December.  I can say we don't get alot of food but it gets us motivated and gets the community thinking about it... I'm on the parent group at the school (PAWS)... I am the coordinator between Wilbur & Paws.... we will hold another big drive the week before Thanksgiving.. Wilbur Ellis gives the winning class a pizza party... The younger kids really get into it.

It's so humbling to go to the Food Bank and unload all this food.  To know there are people out there that really depend on it to survive. I'm so glad I work for a company that is willing to give back to the community!!!  Thanks Wilbur Ellis !!!!

I Wish There Were More Hours In A Day.....

Today was Elijah's 504 plan meeting.  This meeting is held so we can determine how he is doing in class and mainly if any previsions need to be made to help him succeed.  Since he has the ADHD he qualifies for this.

Well I retained Elijah last year & I've never felt better about my decision.  It's so nice to see him struggling less than in the past.  He still has a long way to go but I feell we are on the right track.  He struggles in Math & Reading / Comprehension.. Probalby the 2 most important subjects.   Well each morning I work for an hour - an hour an 1/2 with Elijah ... spelling, math, flash cards, anything he doesn't complete in class comes home & we complete it.   It has helped him immensely but there are days I want to walk away.. give - up.. but I can't .. It's the only way he's gonna make it.. Well today I have to figure out how to put 30 mins of reading / comprehension in the mix.  First - he hates reading... I've tried several techniques.. he reads a page .. I read a page.. but nothing has helped him get interested.. His comprehension level is 2nd grade. we are way behind... I've purchased a 2nd grade book from Hastings.. It has short stories that he will read.. it asks questions to see if he comprehends.. so we will start working out of that & he now has to bring home is A/R books for reading.. because he is not finishing any books so he can be tested on them.   So now between morning and evening.. we will spend 2 hrs together working on these subjects.. I so hope it works..

Happy Birthday Elijah!!!

Elijah wanted a Denver Bronco's Bedroom for his birthday.  Well his birthday was over a month ago but the order got lost, than it didn't ship for a few weeks and then they didn't send all the border.  Well it finally all arrived and tonight with the help of Kevin and Vanessa's eye and this handy dandy laser  (If you don't have one you should get one.. It's on my must have list)... It put a red laser STRAIGHT line on the wall and we were able to border his whole room in less than an hour  & hang the curtains straight)

This is the finished product.,,, I love it.....

Mr. Cow (Elijah's friend since he was about 1) he loved it...

And Elijah loved it... He later said "Mom I was a little nervous when you started putting up the border but I really like it *lol*

What he doesn't know is for Christmas I have a few more items for decorating to finish it up... And I can't wait!!!

I Had My Calling.......

Something inside of me has been telling me to go back to church.  I've contemplated for quite some time & have came up with every reason why I shouldn't.  Well I used to attend "The Warden Community Church" about 10 yrs ago and really enjoyed it but when I was going thru my divorce I pulled away.   Part of what has been bugging me is that I want the boys to have exposure to it.  I want them to believe, and understand why we are here.. who died for our sins & understand when I say " God is watching you and he knows the truth" *lol*  So I did it... They were holding "Ralley Sunday".. What a great day to go back  & I wouldn't be the only new face there.. What a great feeling.. it was fun to see peoples expressions. when they realized I was there.. Made me chuckle inside.  Well last week was week 3 .. the boys have gone with me..they still aren't to sure but I think they will get there.. Last week was amazing... I felt as if my Grandma was sitting above me with the biggest smile... It was such a warming feeling.. One of the families had their infant daughter baptized... Brought tears to my eyes... We sang songs that my Grandma would sing with us or we would sing at her church when we were kids "He Arose" was one of my favorites... It's been great .. I've enjoyed the lessons and actually look forward to Sunday Mornings...

Wish There Were Two of Me......

Both boys are busy in sports but not the same sport not even in the same town just happen to play at the same time.   Adrian is bowling Saturday morning 10:30 - Moses Lake & Elijah plays Grid Kid Football - 10:00 - Warden, Othello or Connell... Makes for an interesting morning.  I set them both down and explained I would have to switch back in forth.. 1 week bowling.. 1 week football & then hope I could find someone to help me out.

Well this Saturday was tough.. Eric & Vanessa worked, Mazzlin had soccer in Moses Lake that tied up Jenn & D & Kevin and Amanda went to Bremerton on Friday.   Nick was able to come down and stay with Elijah as I went bowling..

Adrian bowled  very consistant  2 games at 115 & 119... during his 3rd game I get two texts from two different moms... Elijah had an interception down on the other teams endzone.. I was so excited for him but so sad for me because I missed it.. I could see him doing his happy dance.

When we got home from bowling he was all excited.. telling me he felt like he was dreaming.. and he woke up and the ball was just there *lol*... So funny to hear him tell the story...   Now next week he is in Connell so I will be headed that way & hope that Adrian bowls good and I can get texts from the bowling mom's *lol*..
