You know I'm normally running in circles but the past week has even been more crazy than usual.
My mom was in a car accident on May 19th. She had just turned the corner by the Senior Center in Moses Lake & a car backed into her. Well you wouldn't think that would bring much damage but .... we were all wrong, Over 7,000.00 damage to her Ford Focus - 3 days in the I.C.U. & a broken sternum at the age of 73. All makings for a crazy week.
When they released her it was under the orders that she couldn't be left alone. Well my brother Mike came down for 2 days (THANK YOU!!) and stayed with her at home but on Sunday I moved in. You take 2 very independent women who both live on their own, very late nights, very different personalities, 2 little boys that have had to give up spring concert, spring band concert, bowling practice in the evening, all their toys at home, and RAIN not allowing for energy to burn off and the camping trip planned for the past few months & things tend to get a little edgey...
I'm so grateful for so many things... No one else was hurt, she wasn't hurt worse, I have a great job that has allowed me flexible hours this past 10 days so I could tend to her in the mornings, get my kids to school, for her great friends that have volunteered to sit with & help her during the day,my older kids that have tried to keep me in sanity check and especially for my co-workers that have had to put up with me...
The plan is for her to go stay with her sister starting on Monday. Both her & her husband are retired & we are hoping by then she will have most of her independence back.
I have figured out one thing... I'm glad that I'm not a planner, that I can work around change.. Cuz if I wasn't this curve ball that life has sent me these past few days, would have sent me a sailing but instead I still feel like I'm in control and punting the best that I can....
