Diet Days.....

I've really been trying hard on this diet thing.. Two things that have been hard on me are "TABOO FOOD" & getting discouraged.

Taboo food is obvious food that I can't say NO to... Warm Cookies ( no baking lately) , Doughnuts from the bakery... LOVE EM!! "Fast Food" (Convenient).. Candy bars... So I've tried hard not to buy or make and I've succeeded but here's a cute little story I'd like to share.

Elijah and I were getting groceries on Friday evening. He asked if he could have a doughnut from the bakery... "you know mom the really good ones"..
Yeah Elijah I know which ones . But you see Mom is trying to diet and I really love doghnuts, so we need to wait a little longer when it's easier for me to say NO to a doughnut and then I will buy some.. Right now I would eat yours and mine too...
He sighs "OK Mom".

Sunday we are headed to Tricities & I've drank so much water it hurts to breathe. Thank goodness the Chocolate Factory on 395 was still open. As we pull in Adrian asks if they can have ice cream and why I didn't just say no & why I felt like I had to give him an excuse I will never know but this is what I said. "But you see Mom is trying to diet and I really like icecream, so we need to wait a little longer when it's easier for me to say NO to icecream and then I will buy some.. Right now I would eat yours and mine too"... ( I don't really like ice cream- still can't figure out why I said that.)
So we are headed home, I stop to get gas & I grab a bottle of water & a york patty (low fat) split 3 ways - 1 pt if that perfect. I ask the boys in the car if they would like to split a york patty with me and you will never guess what Adrian's reply was.... HMMMM... Thought you were on a diet and you see I really like those if we waited a little longer when it would be easeir you wouldn't have wanted that you could have said NO. AGHHH!!!! But I laughed for quite some time!!! I tried to explain it was a low fat candy but he didn't buy it. As for Elijah he ate his 1/2 & said several times.. "Absolute Delicious Mom.. isn't it "... *lol*

Now for discouragement... I feel good.. I've changed my eating habits & started excercising & drinking lots more water & much less pop and the good news is .... I lost another pound and 1/2.
But after all that you think it should be more... But I"m glad & will continue to work at it :)

Oh Darla, dieting is exhausting and discouraging and lots of work and I'M SO PROUD OF YOU. Hang in there and "wait a little longer till it's easier to say NO and then" . . . well, and then it will still be lots of work and exhausting but you'll be skinnier!

Losing weight the correct way, as you are doing, takes time, patience and will-power. I think you are doing great!
